What inspired you to write this book?
I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of psychic abilities and I wanted to explore a detective-style mystery with that element. So I created a special team, each with their own unique psychic gift. I was inspired by many mystery novels I’ve read over the years, including Nora Roberts’ ‘In Death’ series, which she writes under the pseudonym of JD Robb. Mostly, I wanted to write a fun paranormal suspense with some sizzling romance.
What topics in your book or background do you think book clubs would find interesting?
Readers will find the psychic theme very interesting, especially as it has been incorporated into a futuristic policing agency. They’ll also explore themes of child abuse, abortion, revenge and more. With a couple of subplots thrown in, there’s a lot to chat about with DIVINE INTERVENTION.
Tell us about your career outside of writing and how it influence your writing.
I am a full-time author and book publisher, but when I did work, mostly I was self-employed. I’ve had my own hair salon, private dayhome for children, sold Pampered Chef and more. Years before that I worked in advertising, promotion, sales, marketing and was a motivational speaker for a well-known international company. All of my experiences have shaped my writing in one way or another. But mostly, I just write from the heart—because that is where the true story lays.
Describe your style of writing
My writing changes subtly with each novel since I don’t stick to one boxed-in genre. I write simply, but with emotion. I prefer to let action and dialogue tell the story through my characters. Writing, for me, is like painting a picture or producing a movie—I want readers to see it in their minds.
Which authors have inspired you?
Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Luanne Rice, Nora Roberts, JK Rowling, Margaret Atwood…and so many more.
