This is the collection of stories about the time when people were young and quite penniless. Once upon not so long ago, there was a lodging house at 44A Lorong Ahmad Marzoeki that housed 19 tenants. Coming to Newtown City from every corner of the world, there were 15 boys and 4 girls, collectively dubbed as Pheng iu by one of them. Life under one roof couldn’t get more random than this, alright, but they were in need of each other so they could share and enjoy cheaper rental fee.
What began with some cheapskate attitude soon became a very close and tight relationship. As they set out to do good and hit the big time, they found love and friendship in their togetherness. Oh, there were times when they schemed, competed and sabotaged each other, too, but then again, that was the whole idea of living together, wasn’t it?
Those were the days. The funny moments, they were magical. Captured in words for the first time, here’s Pheng iu, volume one…
