Austin PD Detective Jason Scarsdale’s wife, Charity
was killed in a automobile accident of which Scarsdale blames himself. She had asked him to go to the store; but he put it off not wanting to leave the football game he was watching on television. It was on that short trip
to the store that Charity faced her death and Scarsdale would soon begin to deal with a five year old girl who just lost her mother.
Shannon would soon become his life and focus, as he tries to recapture the time he had previously lost with his little girl while out chasing criminals.
While pursuing a case that involved the awful death of a young girl named Amy; he had a strong desire to put the criminal behind bars for as long as he could. He was driven because of the awful abuse and the way she was
killed. Soon police analysis Dani Mueller is assigned to help Scarsdale on this case. While working with her he learns that her daughter had been viciously murdered. They seem to have an instant bond between them, causing them to reach out more than just in job related situations.
When Shannon was sick and in the hospital Dani was there supporting both father and daughter. Soon she found herself at their house playing with Shannon and growing very attached to her.
What no one knew at the time was that Dani, originally from Germany, had killed the man who murdered her daughter. She sought revenge and was headed to kill again, but someone beat her to the punch.
Scarsdale soon figures out Dani’s secret, but by then his daughter Shannon had already grown fondly attached to this lady, which made him uncertain of what to do.
When Amy’s killer abducts his daughter, Scarsdale learns the value of bending rules and is reunited with Shannon. Then, when he thought things couldn’t get any worse, they did.
