What is your background as it relates to writing and this book?
I was lucky enough to be born in the Pacific Northwest to parents who loved reading and nature. I was always encouraged to write in school. I loved the outdoors and science, and became a geologist to study the natural forces that shaped the world around me. I’ve worked professionally in that field, consulting on large energy projects, fish hatcheries, wind farms, and other projects with tribes, and public institutions. Over time, I began to write fiction, weaving information from my work into my story. I hope that the narrative descriptions of the landscape and political environment in the novel show that connection. A Deadly Bluff is a result of my lifelong commitment to conservation and nature.
